Chamois Cleaning Smart Phone Screen

Electronics and water (or liquid of any kind) are a dangerous combination and can easily damage or destroy sensitive electronics.  A genuine leather chamois cloth is a safe and effective solution for cleaning electronic devices. A chamois can be safely used either damp (make sure to wring out thoroughly) or dry to remove dust, grime, smudges, fingerprints, etc... from all types of electronics.  Chamois are great for cleaning the following types of electronics:

  • Stereo components
  • DVD/Blue Ray Players
  • Game Consoles
  • Camera lenses
  • Desktop Computer Cases and Peripherals
  • Tablet Computers
  • Phone screens

Clean Sensitive Monitors with Chamois Cloth

Chamois Cleaning Flat Screen Monitor or TV

Virtually all monitors or LCD screens (flat-screen TVs, computer monitors and various other types of displays) on the market today are made of a soft plastic.  Unlike glass, plastic is easily scratched or etched by improper cleaning methods or chemicals.  These softer plastic monitors should never be cleaned with any paper product or product make from wood fiber, which includes paper towels, Kleenex, toilet paper, etc.  No matter how “soft” they may feel, the wood fibers from which they are made will scratch the plastic over time and cause it to appear “cloudy”.Also NEVER USE any of the following chemicals to clean an LCD screen:

  • Windex
  • Ammonia
  • Alcohol
  • Vinegar

These chemicals will etch the plastic and/or oxidize quickly leaving the surface “cloudy” or semi-opaque. Only use natural materials, such as a genuine leather chamois, to clean these delicate plastic surfaces safely.  And only use chemicals when the screen cannot be cleaned any other way, and then only with a solution specifically designed for that purpose.  A genuine leather chamois is a safe and effective tool for cleaning these types of sensitive screens and electronic devices while eliminating the need for more chemicals in the home.
